I took this photo while sitting at a po-boy shop just out the back door of Pat O'Brien's. We were lucky enough to be given the perfect table for a photo op - right in the corner of a great iron fence with a lamp post.

Lighting the Way

12x22 - Watercolor Pour

Walking through the French Quarter is one of my favorite things to do. I always make sure to have a camera in hand to capture the beautiful ironwork and lanterns that decorate the city. I found this lamp near Brennan's.

Watercolor pouring is a process of blocking out areas in your drawing that you want to save: whites, light values, medium values, and darks. After you block out a level of color you pour the primary colors of watercolor and let it run, swirl, and puddle. After the final pour of color, you remove the blocking material and finish the painting with brushwork.
